IVPA POSITIONS AVAILABLEThe Illinois Violence Prevention Authority (IVPA) is a state agency created in July 1997 to plan, coordinate, fund and evaluate statewide and local collaborative approaches to the prevention of all forms of interpersonal violence. The IVPA is co-chaired by the Illinois Attorney General and the Director of the Illinois Department of Public Health and its members include state agency directors and appointed private sector members from health, criminal justice, civic and victim services arenas. Financing for the IVPA is generated from the sale of the Prevent Violence License Plates and annual state appropriation of General Revenue Funds. The IVPA administers four grants programs related to violence prevention: Illinois Health Cares, Safe from the Start, School District Anti-Bias Grants, and Youth-Led Mini-Grants. In addition to grant-making, the IVPA provides considerable technical assistance and support to its funded programs as well as to violence prevention programs throughout the state. The IVPA is also committed to educating the public and community and state institutions about the nature, importance and promise of violence prevention strategies.
